Actor Edward Norton has used his official website asking people to provide any form of assistance that will strengthen relief efforts for the victims of the devastating twin disasters that hit Japan last week.

Aceshowbiz said that the ‘American History X’ actor has been influencing people on his Crowdrise website for assistance with a statement posted on the website’s homepage that says: 'Now is the time to Crowdrise.'

"The Incredible Hulk" star has founded Crowdrise website in 2010 with aims at pulling together fans and other celebrities and coordinate fundraising initiatives for different forms of humanitarian efforts.

"The Japanese are in the middle of a major disaster. Please donate to the projects below or start your own fundraiser. Please just get involved and get all your friends involved. This is why we Crowdrise," Norton is quoted as saying on his Crowdrise website home page.

The northern part of Japan was hit by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake on Friday followed by an equally devastating tidal wave as high as 10 meters in some areas.

An estimated 100,000 people are suspected to have been killed in the incident. The twin-disaster has been made worse by subsequent explosions of nuclear power plants in the northern region of Japan.
