Ellen DeGeneres Wants To Have Kids But Fears She Might Compare Them To 'Smart' Kids That Appear On Her Show
Ellen DeGeneres has all the intentions to start a family with her partner Portia de Rossi but says she does not feel ready for it yet. The television chat show hostess appeared on a talk show recently where she debunked the rumours about her divorce with Rossi. Ellen also talked about what she thinks about having kids.
“It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don't know if I can — it's too risky," the 57-year-old comedian spoke to “Today” show host Matt Lauer. She also told Matt that she “loves” kids but that is not the right reason to have them. Ellen fears that she might not find her kid “as cute” and “talented” as she had envisioned.
Ellen told the “Today's” host that she is going to compare her kid to all the “smart and funny” children that appeared on her chat show. She joked that she will end up telling her kid that he/she is “nowhere near these kids I had on today.” Matt however encouraged Ellen and told her “never to say never.” He also added that Ellen would be an “amazing mom.”
The topic then shifted to Elle's marriage partner Rossi and their divorce speculations. Ellen told Matt that she is “flabbergasted” by the media that always wants to “make up a story” about her marriage to Rossi. She added that there has “never been a point” in their marriage where they had any trouble and thought of “breaking up or divorcing or fighting.”
She further added that no stories about her divorce are “even remotely true.” Ellen said she is not aware of what is written about her partner in various magazines as she does not have a publicist. Ellen got married to 42-year-old Rossi in 2008. The two have been together despite all the ups and downs in their relationship.
The television chat show hostess also talked about “One Big Happy,” the new NBC sitcom that she is executive producing and how it very different from her '90s sitcom “Elle.” “One Big Happy” tells the story of a family that has a gay mother and a straight father. It premiered on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. on NBC.
