Evasi0n 6.1.3 jailbreak as well as iPhone 5 6.1.4 jailbreak both seem to be doubtful at this point despite internationally insistent demand. Evad3rs, for their part, had advised iPhone, iPad and iPod users to stay on iOS 6.1.2.

For its part, the Evad3rs group working on the Evasi0n jailbreak, is only after an efficient and effective use of time and resources. The hackers are aware iOS 7 will be more challenging to jailbreak. They have successfully come up with user-friendly tools, up to 6.1.2 jailbreak. But for iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak, the group said hackers would have to start from scratch.

Apple is determined to keep its customers within its pre-designed user environment, saying this is best for user safety and security. However, jailbreaking users want more freedom in managing their iDevices.

David Wang (planetbeing), one of the evad3rs, pointed out Apple is making it more difficult for hackers to jailbreak. The evad3rs have worked on jailbreaking Apple OS up to version 6.1.2. The group sparked cyber buzz earlier this year for the simple Evasi0n jailbreaking tool.

On Reddit, Wang shared his thoughts on the future of jailbreaking:

"Apple has successfully mitigated many vectors of attack in iOS 6. In this current jailbreak, we "evaded" Apple's mitigations in the userland with several vulnerabilities I would perhaps characterize as "lame," since these mistakes are a throwback to earlier days of iOS jailbreaking where we primarily used filesystem tricks. We only attacked Apple's hardened security head-on in the kernel. "Lame" vulnerabilities tend to be hard to find, however, so it's likely the next jailbreak will be tougher. That said, we also retain a few tricks that may or may not help in the future. Who knows what the weight of each factor should be when trying to determine how long the next jailbreak will take."

Meanwhile, the Evasi0n 6.1.3 jailbreak appeal on change.org has so far gathered over 2,000 signees.

"My iPhone got stuck at the Apple boot logo [after downgrading to iOS 6.1.2]. I had no other choice but to (let) iTunes restore to 6.1.3," reads a petition comment from Gabriel Brown of Texas. "Now no jailbreak until iOS 7? We could be waiting 6 months or more before iOS7 is released and another month or more after that before a jailbreak is available," he complains.

It is likely Evasion 6.1.3 jailbreak hopefuls would be stuck with a non-jailbroken Apple device for a while. The same goes for iPhone 5 users now running their smartphone on iOS 6.1.4. Better than exposing the bugs they've found for an iOS 6.1.3 code, evad3rs are laying low until iOS 7 comes out.
