A new app available in the App Store called Evi aims to render Siri-like functionality in non-iPhone handsets.

Voice recognition function has become so popular that many apps are trying to replicate this function. This new app, Evi, uses Nuance's voice recognition technology like Siri and True Knowledge's engine. This new app will run on any Android and iPhone devices.

This app transforms speech into text and understands what the users mean and their intent, Evi does all of these. Evi can also answer some of the toughest questions that Siri was unable to provide answer to.

According to the developers of Evi, True Knowledge Company, Evi is an artificial intelligence that can largely help people in obtaining information that they need. The developers added that Evi is not a simple engine search that gives results based on matching words but understands what you are saying and gives satisfying and accurate results. Moreover, True Knowledge Company boasted that Evi is evolving all the time, the more the user is using the app.

Evi comes with the following features and functions:

  • Voice or text input - Chat to Evi in plain English and she will understand.
  • Local information for UK and USA - Shopping, news, dining and more. Evi knows where you are and gives answers based on your location.
  • One tap words - Allowing you to build your question super-fast.
  • Built in browser - No need to swap to a different browser, view web links within Evi's app.
  • A learning and adapting intelligence - Rate Evi's answers to help her learn more about the world.
  • More than a search engine - Evi takes the searching out of search, able to review and compare nearly a billion facts from her database to give you exactly what you need.

Evi is currently a mobile app but it can be integrated into television, the web, and games consoles.

However, it seems that True Knowledge is having some difficulties when it comes to traffic as some users are getting a response saying, "I'm having trouble getting a response from my servers. You might want to try again in a minute." Some users say that the app is not working at all.

The Evi app is in the App Store for the price of $0.99 and one can also download it using direct iTunes link.
