"Evolve," game, a cooperative first person shooter from 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios, finally gets a release date.
Game Informer reports that the "Evolve" game is scheduled to be released this October 21 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC (box art). New hunters have also been added with their own unique character specific abilities. This brings the total number of human characters to eight, while the Goliath is still the only monster character confirmed so far. A new map content has also been added to the game, which brings a whole different level of difficulty when hunting and being hunted.
"Evolve" trailer below
"Evolve" game has new hunters and character specific abilities according to Kotaku
Hyde (Assault Class) - Hyde carries the most damaging weapon in the game, the flamethrower. The weapon's damage output is offset by its range, but Hyde is still able to get close to the enemy and deal serious damage using his personal shield for a few seconds. He also carries a heavy damaging minigun and toxic grenades, that create a poisonous cloud of mist that only affect Evolve's big monsters, the Goliath.
Bucket (Support Class) - Bucket is a very good character to include in your team especially when you are still hunting the Goliath. He can detach his head and use it as an aerial drone to scout ahead. This leaves his body vulnerable to other attacking monsters so team mates should do their best to protect him at this stage. Bucket can also use his cloaking field to cover other hunters, thus helping the team avoid detection, and possibly sneak up on the target. Laser-guided missiles and flying sentry turrets complete his weapon loadout.
Maggie (Trapper Class) - Maggie can be very helpful especially when your team has cornered the Goliath. She can anchor the enemy in place using her harpoon traps, which can be thrown and set like mines that activate once the target is within proximity. Once the traps have been triggered it sends out energy tethers that impede the enemy's movement. For offense, Maggie uses a machine pistol and one of the most unique weapons in the game, "Daisy". Daisy is an alien version of a bloodhound called a "Trapjaw" which actively seeks out the Goliath. Team mates who are injured can also be revived by Maggie's pet so keeping her alive is an excellent strategy for advanced players.
Lazarus (Medic Class) - Lazarus is the team medic with a "twist". Instead of actively healing your teammates, he relies on a special skill that revives other players from the dead. This greatly helps when you are actively chasing the Goliath and one of your teammates gets killed. Instead of going for the respawn option which gets you carried back via the dropship, Lazarus can immediately resuscitate his comrades and push on with the assault. Lazarus is no pushover when it comes to offense, because he is equipped with a powerful sniper rifle with great range and damage, and a personal cloak which renders him almost invisible to the enemy. Because of all these options and abilities, Lazarus players are most likely going to be targeted a lot by the opposing players.
New map content, new dangers
PC World details that the new map added to the "Evolve" game is called "The Dam," which is set in a desert environment, and will include new threats and challenges for all the players using the hunters, or the Goliath. The "Dune Beetle" is one of the new creatures that can be a benefit or a bane for both sides. This creature will aggressively attack the hunters, which can leave them injured and easy for the Goliath to kill. They also actively hunt other animals found in the map, which are the source of food for the Goliath to evolve into a more powerful monster.
"Evolve" gained positive feedback from players and journalists, who were able to play the unfinished game. With its new updates and solid gameplay delivered by the developers of 2k Games and Turtle Rock Studios, "Evolve" is looking good and ready for its upcoming release this year.
