Facebook adds more exciting mobile app notifications with update
Users can customise information by clicking 'Add More Cards'
On Monday, Facebook announced a bagful of new changes for its mobile app to enhance user experience. The updated and redesigned notifications tab stands out and is worth mentioning.
In order to make it even more useful, Facebook started rolling out a personalised notification tab on the mobile app. With the update, the current notification settings won’t change. But users can adjust their notifications anytime from the Settings tab.
“Every day, people use their notifications to keep up-to-date with their friends and family. We’ve heard feedback that people wanted to add important information that they can easily see, all in one place,” wrote Keith Peiris, Product Manager at Facebook in an official blog post.
Along with the notifications, users can also customise important milestones like birthdays, anniversaries and other life events. They can also set TV reminders and get sport updates based on the pages they liked, says Facebook.
Mobile notifications can be more organised in the “Cards” feature. Based on their location, users can keep adding cards and add notifications.
Once the app recognises the location of the user, it will keep on sending notifications related to local events; popular trending news in the city in which they reside; weather updates; movies playing; restaurants nearby and much more.
Facebook users can customise all the information by just clicking Add More Cards at the bottom of the tab. According to Facebook, all the personalised options for mobile notifications will start rolling out on both iOS and Android for U.S. users starting today.
Earlier, the mobile notifications tab displayed a list of updates in sequential order, reports Macworld. The search giant has been trying to improve its mobile app experience for quite some time. Last week, the company rolled out Instant Articles feature to all iOS users.
