Facebook Music is due to be launched tomorrow amidst user furor on their new interface. A new piece of information to the new service was leaked by Ji Lee, a former creative director at Google, with his tweet which he deleted minutes later.

"The 'Listen with your friend' feature in ticker is blowing my mind. Listen to what your friends are listening. LIVE." the tweet said. A screen shot was later taken by a Mitchell Holder moments before being deleted by Ji Lee.

The developer has most recently posted a Facebook status which most speculate points to Facebook Music. "Ji Lee is listening to Black & Blue by Mike Snow and feeling happy it's another beautiful sunny day in California." according to the status update.

Other features of Facebook Music was rumored to be "Scrobbling" and track unification. Facebook will automatically put the track name you are currently listening in your profile and users can click on it to listen to it on other services like RDIO, MOG and Spotify.

Facebook is in no way in direct competition with established music streaming services like Spotify but opted instead to seek partnership with companies.

With Facebook's massive user base, they are positioned to introduce new music to users. Coupled with this formerly secret feature of sharing what you are listening to, this adds a new factor in opening new consumers to music via sharing. This will be like the second coming of the radio.

The Australian music industry faces the dilemma of shrinking music downloads and floundering CD sales. Music streaming services may offer an answer to boost paid music download as CD sales steadily decline. For example: Spotify is the second largest source of revenue for Europe's record labels contributing 87.5% increase of sales. Facebook Music, given the propensity of its users to share, can be a new avenue of growth for the music industry.
