'Fallout Shelter' Thanksgiving-themed update available now
“Fallout Shelter” has received its newest update for mobile devices and it's ready to give thanks with everyone else. This Thanksgiving update introduces a number of new items based on the traditions of the holiday, including delicious-looking Turkey and Thanksgiving-themed clothes to get people into the spirit of the season.
The update was revealed through the official “Fallout” Twitter account, where the developer wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving. It should be available now for both iOS and Android devices.
This is the second holiday-themed update released for “Fallout Shelter,” the first being the Halloween centred one released back in October. It seems like thematic or seasonal updates is going to be a regular occurrence for the game, so fans shouldn’t be surprised if a Christmas one is released next month. This generally follows what most developer-supported mobile apps do during the seasonal occasions and holidays.
Like the game itself, the update is free of charge, so those with the game can immediately download the update and appreciate the changes made. Those that haven’t downloaded the game yet can get it for free on their preferred device.
For those unaware, “Fallout Shelter” is a spinoff game from the series that lets players take care of their very own vault. Mobile users have to choose who defends the vault from intruders and get as much food as possible for their citizens.
Considering how big the “Fallout” series is now, it should be no surprise to anyone that “Fallout Shelter” is one of the most downloaded mobile games of the year and is also a financial success. According to GameSpot, the free-to-play mobile game made US$5.1 Million (approx. AU$ 7.1 million) from in-app purchases alone, showing the strength of the “Fallout” brand.
Speaking of the series, “Fallout 4” came out earlier this month, receiving both a critical and a commercial success. Despite a few bugs that should be sorted out, the game has been praised by fans and critics alike, thanks to a big open world packed to the brim with side quests and stories.
“Fallout Shelter” is available now for the iOS and Android devices. The game is a free-to-play title with in-app purchases for those that want to get everything without grinding.
