‘Fantastic Four' Full-Length Trailer Reveals First Look At The Reinvented Dr. Doom
The first official full-length trailer for the “Fantastic Four” reboot has been released, providing fans its first look at the film’s main antagonist. The villain Dr. Doom is revealed nearing the end of the trailer, whose backstory according to a report has been reinvented differently in the film.
Following the leak, Fox has finally released the official trailer for the “Fantastic Four” reboot, giving viewers an in-depth look at the heroes’ origin story. The nearly three-minute preview also provided a first look at the hooded figure of the film’s main villain, Dr. Doom. According to Time, the ominous nemesis was also referenced during a scene when Dr. Franklin Storm, played by “House of Cards” star Reg E. Cathey, said, “If you want to stop him, it’s going to take everything you have.”
This version of Dr. Doom in the “Fantastic Four” reboot is believed to be similar to its film predecessors. According to Deadline, the villain’s origin is still linked to the accident that gives the four heroes its superhuman powers. However, i09 claimed the reboot has reinvented Dr. Doom’s origin in the “worst way.”
The site referred to an interview done by Collider with Dr. Doom star Toby Kebbell. In the interview, Kebbell revealed his version of the villain in the “Fantastic Four” reboot will have a different character origin. For starters, the actor said the villain’s name in the film is H Victor Domashev and not Victor Von Doom. Dr. Doom’s profession has also been tweaked for the film. Toby Kebbell revealed that the “Doom” handle in Dr. Doom eventually becomes part of the villain’s name because of his online activities.
“The Doom in ours—I'm a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I'm ‘Doom,’ he added.
Apparently, not only was Dr. Doom’s origin story tweaked in the film. Movie director Josh Trank’s idea for the “Fantastic Four” reboot was also to have the heroes’ origin story modernised. According to the New York Post, Trank gained inspiration from the 2004 comics “Ultimate Fantastic Four,” where it tells how the heroes got their powers after being exposed to cosmic rays while aboard a flight to outer space.
