Fappening: Google Removes Nude Leaked Photos Of Jennifer Lawrence From Search Listings; Hackers Go Around Law By Changing Domain Name

Jennifer Lawrence, the most famous celebrities among the Fappening nude leaks victims, scored a major victory against the hackers by having Google remove the images stolen from her iCloud account from the search engine's listings.

Google's action was in response to a takedown request filed by the actress's lawyers Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) which states that the nude selfie leaks violated copyright laws since Lawrence is the sole owner of the photos.

A Google spokesman told The Independent, "We've removed tens of thousands of pictures - within hours of the requests being made - and we have closed hundreds of accounts."

The spokesman added, "The Internet is used for many good things. Stealing people's private photos is not one of them."

Hackers Access 100,000 Snapchat Images, Leaked Online

The images were first posted in message boards 4chan and reddit but were eventually removed because of threats of lawsuit from the celebrities, which includes A-listers Winona Ryder and Gabrielle Union. But some of the Web sites that hosted the images changed their domain name, allowing the controversial images to show up again on Google search, prompting the DMCA takedown request.

There are, however, reports that despite the action taken by the two messaging boards, some subreddit communities still share the hacked images by providing the download links in private messages instead of in public discussion rooms.

The Google action is seen by followers of the scandal as signaling the end of Fappening even as some subreddit posters pointed out that there are still some nude selfies on the Web, but these are actually not hacked images but photos of D-listers or unknown women who dream of becoming celebrities and leak their own au naturel photos.
