Fashion website “Styleite” released official statements to clarify the controversial article that claimed Beyoncé was copying Kylie Jenner’s lips in her latest series of sexy selfies. Queen Bey’s devotees were quick to slam the website for the comparison, which ultimately pushed the website to explain itself.

Last week, the website shared Bey’s photos and entitled it "Beyoncé Tries Kylie Jenner's Lips," with a report that expressed concern over the singer’s overuse of lip liner and later a reference to Kylie Jenner’s famous made up lips. The story apparently did not sit well with the Beyhive, the general name for Beyoncé fans, E! News stated, as they started the onslaught of comments on social media, expressing their disbelief over the website’s flawed comparison.

While many argued that Jenner’s look imitated Beyoncé’s in the first place, there were also some who took the opportunity to shame Kim Kardashian’s half sister, saying that Bey was born with her full lips while Jenner had hers fixed and paid for. There were also others who pushed for the article to be deleted on the grounds that it was “racially insensitive.”

After two days of online backlash, the site came forward with an official response to subdue Bey’s party. "We have had a lot of criticism about this post on Twitter due to legitimate concerns about the erasure of black women's features. We recently posted a couple of articles emphasizing this exact point, and highlighting the hypocrisy of society deeming certain things to be more acceptable on white women," the statement read as quoted by Buzzfeed News.

It also emphasized that they were only pointing out that Beyoncé had overlined her lips, a feat she had done before, and that “Kylie Jenner lips” was only a sarcastic make up reference. Hannah Ongley, the author of the notorious piece, also stated that the issue at hand was one she cared deeply about, and that the updates made on the article were “to ensure that there was clarity and no misunderstanding."
