'The Fault in Our Stars' Movie Casting: Joshua Anthony Brand as Augustus Waters [PHOTOS]
Casting speculation for role of Augustus Waters in the film adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars" continues. For one, finding a Hollywood actor for Gus isn't as easy as casting Shailene Woodley for the role of Hazel Grace Waters. If John Green considered casting a model for the role of Waters, one name has been constantly thrown in the mix for the role and it is none other than Joshua Anthony Brand.
John Green's best-selling novel, "The Fault in Our Stars" is finally getting the attention it deserves. The film has already found a director in Josh Boone and with casting for Hazel Grace Lancaster covered casting for Augustus Waters should be next. However, it has taken quite a while for Boone and Green to cast a potential star for the role.
Fans have named a lot of possible stars to play Gus such as Logan Lerman, Avan Jogia, Dylan O'Brien, Nicholas Braun and Josh Peck. Even Zac Efron was considered however Boone had stated he was "too old" for the role. Director Josh Boone strictly wanted to hire an actor "not older than 25 years of age."
Considering Augustus "Gus "Waters is a cancer-stricken teenager, the role should definitely be given to a teenager as well. While some fans greatly considered Hollywood stars, a few had named models that could have a chance at the role. One name that has constantly made it to comments and polls is Joshua Anthony Brand.
Brand is an 18-year old model from Leeds, England, United Kingdom. The British model has covered the iconic Manx lifestyle magazine and has modelled for popular clothing brands in the UK. Joshua isn't only wanted by fans for the role of Augustus Waters but by another fandom as well. Brand is also eyed to play Will Herondale in the film adaptation of Cassandra Clare's novel, "The Infernal Devices."
Judging from the amount of people rooting for this model, John Green and Josh Boone might just cast the UK model for the role of Augustus Waters. Fans can only hope Joshua Anthony Brand gets the break he deserves with this role.
