FCC approves OnePlus X; release imminent
OnePlus has officially confirmed it will hold a media event on Oct. 12 in India. According to the rumour mill, OnePlus’ upcoming handset referred to as the OnePlus X will be unleashed on that day. Its release became all the more evident when it received certification from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
FCC has listed a new OnePlus handset with the model number “One E1005” along with two images, Phone Scoop reported. Even though the images aren’t high quality, it does reveal the handset sports a unique design compared to the OnePlus One from 2014 and this year’s OnePlus 2.
The rear of the purported OnePlus X sports the company logo. It also houses a camera along with an LED flash. The bottom of the handset houses a microUSB port and two speakers. The front side has a simple appeal.
The FCC listing reveals the One E1005 will be powered by a processor that clocks in at 1.9 GHz. It will come with connectivity features like Wi-Fi, LTE, Bluetooth and GPS. It will be equipped with a 2450 mAh capacity battery. The handset will be shipped with Android Lollipop OS overlaid with OxygenOS.
According to the FCC listing, the length of the alleged OnePlus X is 139 mm. It indicates the phone may come with a 5-inch display, Phone Arena reported.
A recent report from Gizmo China said the MediaTek MT6795 chipset will power the device along with 2 GB of RAM. OnePlus X will come with in-built storage of 32 GB. The rear camera will be 13 MP whereas the front will be 5 MP. Speculation suggests it will be priced around $249 (AU$342).
