FEATURE: American Idol, The Search for New Judges Continues
Aussie Judge Keith Urban Remains in the Dark on His Role on American Idol Season 13
Of the three new judges on American Idol Season 12, Aussie country singer, Keith Urban is the only one who hasn’t officially declared he’s not returning in 2014, raising speculations that he is still in talks with Idol producers to sit on the judge panel.
And of the three new judges on American Idol 2013, Urban is the most liked for his impartial, calm and passionate demeanor, sometimes emotional to some extent when he was giving his take in every performance.
“I have no idea!” Keith said when E! caught up with him at the recently concluded CMT Awards, said unrealitytv.co.uk “You probably know as much as I do!”
Do you think Idol producers should take him in? See IBTimes-AU report with its five reasons why Keith Urban should be back next season.
The only thing that stops the show’s honchos from letting him keep his seat on the show is the clamour by many for a clean slate in the coming season. As the show’s last original judge Randy Jackson made his exit at the conclusion of Season 12, the call for a major and total revamp has been imminent. This includes having new judges, all together.
The Idol alumni were reported last week to have taken over the seats and this seemed like a very good idea - - if only to show that American Idol is the only reality singing competition show that produce big stars in the name of Jennifer Hudson, Carried Underwood, Adam Lambert, Lee DeWyze, Philip Phillips, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler and Kelly Clarkson and some more.
Jennifer Hudson was the first alum to have been confirmed as new Idol judge. But recent reports have it that she has yet met eye to eye with officials on salary issues. This has left the producer to keep its door open for another Jennifer, former Idol judge, J-Lo who had earlier been open about wanting to be back in the air with Idol hopefuls.
“Benny [Medina, Jennifer's manager] told Fox that she does indeed want to return,” a source was quoted as saying by unrealitytv.co.uk.
“They’re talking. Negotiations are in their infant stages, but they’re underway to get her back to the judges’ table.”
But taking either Keith or J-Lo on the table will defy all wishes for an overall, holistic change on America’s most popular reality TV show. With new faces on the judging panel guarantees more changes on the show that will sure help pump up its decreasing ratings that goes down at such a rapid pace. The show’s ratings continued hitting at its all time low since its inception more than a decade ago.
