Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso is reportedly still in the hospital following his high-speed crash in the second pre-season test in Barcelona on Feb. 22. It is unclear if Alonso will make it in the final pre-season Formula One, or F1, test of the current season on Feb. 26.

Alonso’s manager Luis Garcia Abad has previously spoken to Spanish media on Tuesday evening stating that they are not in a hurry to get Alonso out of the hospital. Abad said that Alonso will stay in the hospital for as long as necessary.

Abad added that Alonso’s recovery is far more important than the final pre-season test, which will also take place in the same track where Alonso crashed at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. According to Abad, the important thing is that Alonso is making a solid recovery to make him fit for the opening race at the Australian Grand Prix on March 15.

A picture of Alonso holding up a thumbs-up sign at his hospital bed in Catalonia was shared on Twitter by his manager on Feb. 23. Its caption reads, “Thank you for your support.”

Previously, McLaren has already said in a statement that they are in no mad dash to get Alonso back behind the wheel. “We intend to give him every opportunity to make a rapid and complete recovery and will evaluate in due course whether or not he will participate in the next Barcelona test.” McLaren blamed the wind for Alonso’s crash contrary to speculations that poor health condition and electric shock were the cause of the accident.

The third pre-season test will be from Feb. 25 to March 1. Below is the drivers’ line-up for the F1 final test at Circuit de Catalunya.
