Casting speculations for the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" continue. A lot of actors and actresses have already been eyed to play the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. In fact, some of the actors eyed for Christian Grey are known to play sexy vampires in films and TV shows. Who among them made it to the top three choices for the role?

Undoubtedly, fans of "Vampire Diaries", "True Blood" and "Twilight" clearly agree that their leading men in the films can play the role of Christian Grey. The names Ian Somerhalder, Alexander Skarsgard and Robert Pattinson have been nominated favourites for the role of Grey since the beginning of the "Fifty Shades" hype. These three contenders are the strongest vampires on the list and here's a quick rundown on each star.

First off is Ian Somerhalder of the "Vampire Diaries." Despite being 34-years of age, the actor who plays one half of the Salvatore brothers appears to have not aged a day. Fans of "Vampire Diaries" agree that Ian can pull off the look for the role of 27-year old entrepreneur, Grey. Somerhalder counts as the most popular contender for the film adaptation as well given he's constantly topped web polls for the role. Ian's recent tweet to his 3.6 million followers on Twitter sent them into a frenzy claiming it could be the role of Christian Grey.

"5:41AM- bye-bye beautiful Barcelona- back to LA to break down the new movie with the one and only Ivana Chubbuck (my acting coach and guru)," stated Somerhalder on Twitter.

Next up is "True Blood" star, Alexander Skarsgard. Like Ian Somerhalder, Alexander was one of the first actors who expressed interest in the role. Back in 2012, Skarsgard and Somerhalder were favourites for the role of Grey long before Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill made it to the list.

"I feel great. I have not read the script, I don't know if there is script or who the filmmaker is going to be, so that's just difficult to answer. If it's a good filmmaker and a great script I would be interested," explained Skarsgard about playing the role, adding, "Those are the two pillars, the foundation when you start a project."

Last but not the least vampire dubbed a potential for the role of Christian Grey includes Robert Pattinson. Given Pattinson was the main inspiration of author E.L. James for Grey, it would be just appropriate to have him play the role. Also, Pattinson does have the penchant for playing "weird" roles so him playing Grey wouldn't be out of the ordinary at all.

"I mean every part I played is always kind of like sort of weird. But I don't know, I find kind of random things, the movie I'm doing next, is a real guy, an interrogator and he's not particularly weird or anything, he's just like, he's kind of, well he's a little weird," stated Pattinson.
