'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson Close to Finding Christian Grey?
"Fifty Shades of Grey" fans just might finally see the actor set to play the beloved Christian Grey. According to a recent post, Director Sam Taylor-Johnson is close to one clear casting choice for the coveted part. Who might this be?
E.L. James best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey" first broke out in the scene in 2012. The story was simply a fan fiction inspired by Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight." Little did anybody know that the fan fiction would become one of the most read and most hyped novels of the century. The books' success even caught James by surprise.
With people constantly talking about the books, it's not surprising that Universal Studios and Focus Features have claimed the legal rights to produce a film adaptation. Now that the film is set to debut on August 2013, fans have been talking nonstop about potential stars for the lead parts of Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele, Kate Kavanagh and Elliot Grey.
Of course, much attention goes to the protagonist, Christian Grey. Grey, who is 27-years of age, is a business mogul described by James in the books as having a smouldering stare, being impeccably dressed and incredibly good-looking. Who wouldn't fall in love with such a description given it's obviously close to perfection?
Yet, like any other character, Grey has his drawbacks in the form of his fetish towards S&M. Along the way the wealthy tycoon meets his match in innocent and lovely, Anastasia Steele. The two are whisked into a whirlwind romance involving helicopter rides, whips, chains and a Red Room of Pain. To date, countless readers are hooked by the novels of which some scenes between Christian and Ana are being re-enacted in the bedroom.
As for casting, the production studio is yet to announce an official star for the role. However, news has it that British director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, might have found the most suited actor for the part of Christian Grey. Aaron Taylor-Johsnon, Sam's husband, is said to have a real shot at the part.
"I'd love to work with Sam again, no question, without a doubt. I think she's such an incredible director and she's got such an incredible vision. And especially for something like this (which) she can do -- no pun intended -- with her hands tied behind her back and blindfolded," said Aaron Taylor-Johnson during the SDCC for "Kick-Ass 2."
Of course, Aaron starring in the film is just another rumour down the mill. If anything, Aaron won't be playing the part of Christian Grey. In fact, the actor claims he just doesn't "fit the bill" for the role. Sighs of relief could probably be heard from all around the world by now.
Once again, fans are left to speculate who among Hollywood's hottest could play Christian Grey. For now, "Laters Baby."
