"Vampire Diaries" Ian Somerhalder is currently the strongest contender for the role of Christian Grey. Fans of course have been left to speculate who would be playing the role of Anastasia Steele opposite Ian Somerhalder. Yet, it seems as if Ian has already chosen a likely candidate in "Lovelace" star, Amanda Seyfried.

Since the "Fifty Shades of Grey" hype began, Ian Somerhalder had already been in the mix. Late last year, Somerhalder expressed interest in the lead role of Christian Grey. Even after a few months, Somerhalder continues to campaign for the role along with his dedicated fan base. Thus, it's not the least bit surprising that Somerhalder has been the strongest candidate for the role of Christian Grey.

A few hints on the web even suggest that E.L. James could be choosing Ian for the film adaptation. So, if Ian does nab the part, who would play Anastasia Steele opposite him? Well, it looks as if Ian has found the right partner in "Lovelace" star, Amanda Seyfried. In the latest interview with the "Vampire Diaries" star, Ian had stated that Seyfried would make the best Anastasia Steele.

"Her spin as Linda Lovelace hits theaters in early August but even before that her name was being circulated," stated the report, adding, "If you saw Amanda in the flick Chloe (with Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore) then you already know that she can pull off the innocent girl that crosses over into some gritty sex scenes. Ian's right, this role really would suit Amanda because she has proven herself capable of portraying a character with many layers."
