Henry Cavill's latest film, "Man of Steel" catapulted him into the limelight. All thanks to Cavill's role as Superman, a few women fantasized of him playing another iconic part for the highly anticipated film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Surprisingly, Cavill might just be serious about taking on the act of Christian Grey.

"Immortals" star Henry Cavill might not have been popular with the ladies back then, but he was now all thanks to the tight red-and-blue suit. After playing the coveted role of Superman in "Man of Steel," Cavill instantly became a household name wanted by almost every woman. Specifically, now, Cavill was eyed by nearly every lady on the planet for the S&M part of Christian Grey.

Blame E.L. James' best-selling erotica novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey" for the hype. Ever since the "Twilight" fan-fiction emerged late last year, it has been all that Hollywood celebs and fans have been talking about. With the film set for release by August 2014, it was not surprising why fans were even more in frenzy over the announcement of an official cast.

The strongest contenders for the lead role of Christian Grey include Matt Bomer of "White Collar," Ian Somerhalder of "Vampire Diaries" and Henry Cavill of "Man of Steel." Earlier this year, Cavill opened up on the part of Christian Grey during a press conference.

"Put it this way, I've not read a script, spoken to a producer or a director... Not exactly chaste writing is it. I've always preferred the implied sex scene anyway, because having it spelled out always seems a bit tacky. Sex is so readily available to us in every form of media now, so it's no longer that exciting on screen," explained Cavill.

Judging from Henry's statement, taking part in the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades" wasn't that appealing to the actor. Yet, Cavill's latest statement said he's had a change of mind and could possibly be rethinking the role of Christian.

"As an actor I don't think it should stop me from doing roles which may be great stories... I'm very much a storyteller, I enjoy telling stories and if there is a wonderful story to tell than I don't think having played the role of Superman will necessarily stop me from telling that story. The chances are it will very much be a different vehicle than what Superman is, so it won't damage any of that character...because they'll see two very different things on screen," stated Cavill.

Did this mean that Cavill's fans just might see him play the protagonist, Christian Grey, on the big screen? Fans can only wait and see what Director Sam Taylor-Johnson and Author E.L. James have to say about this fan favourite.
