'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Tom Felton as Christian Grey and Emma Watson as Anastasia Steele [PHOTOS]
Freddie Stroma isn't the only "Harry Potter" star to have been eyed for the role in the highly anticipated film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." In fact, a strong favourite even to this day for the part of Anastasia Steele is Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in "Potter." Now, with Stroma in the running for Christian Grey, fans of the "Dramione" fandom, Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, think the role of Grey is best suited for Tom Felton.
Since the release of Sofia Coppola's "Bling Ring", fans of Emma clearly agree she's the perfect fit for E.L. James' character Ana in her best-selling erotica novels. Even before the debut of "Bling Ring", Emma Watson has long been eyed by "Fifty Shades" fans for the coveted part. Despite clearly wanting to have nothing to do with the film adaptation, fans are still rooting for the British actress.
Now, the latest "Potter" star up for a role in the film is none other than Freddie Stroma. Stroma played the obnoxious yet good-looking Cormac McLaggen who had a cute crush on Emma Watson's character, Hermione Granger. A few "Fifty Fans" like the idea of Freddie as Christian Grey and Emma as Anastasia. Yet, "Dramione" fans are clearly against it.
"Dramione" fans, the name coined between Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, think that the role of Grey is much suited for the Slytherin prince, Draco Malfoy played by Tom Felton. Countless fan fictions have paired Draco Malfoy with Hermione Granger which isn't surprising why the pairing is now deemed suitable for the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." This of course isn't the first time Tom Felton's name has been mentioned as a potential star for the role of Christian Grey.
A few fans of the "Dramione" fandom think that Tom Felton and Emma Watson could definitely pull off the role of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Of course, the final say would always depend on Author E.L. James and Director Sam Taylor-Johnson. Given Johnson is British, would she hire British actors for the iconic characters as well?
