The first launch for the PSP years ago, former Japan exclusive “Final Fantasy Type-0” has been ported to more consoles this year with HD versions released for the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One. Just last week, Steam has officially launched the game for PC gamers. Although the game is quite a success in its original and HD versions, the PC port is said to be riddled with issues and failed to live up to the game’s promise.

Upon opening the Steam page for “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD,” viewers are greeted with mixed reviews from those who bought the game. Good reviews praise the game’s storyline and gameplay, but users also commented that the game is a poor port from the PSP exclusive, with few changes to the game overall. On the other hand, other buyers of the game report a lot of technical flaws. Some even claim that they have yet to play the game until now because it crashes instantly upon launching.

One particular issue plaguing the game is it crashes upon launching. Running the game requires the “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD” launcher. Many users report that upon launching, all they would get is a white screen and a message that says the game is not responding.

There were speculations that the game crashes because of certain operating systems, but it is reportedly not true as the game crashes on any OS. The root of the issue is yet to be determined. Square Enix has released an update that fixes the issue, but many users are still unable to play the game.

Another major issue for PC owners regarding “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD” is it only has two resolution options. Gamers can play the game at either 720p or 1080p. Other games have also suffered from this limitation, the most noteworthy of which is the recently launched “Batman: Arkham Knight.”

People also found out that the frame rate for the game has been locked at 30fps, which is similar to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Upon exploring the options, players discovered that there is no way to maximise the PC's potential as the game resolution itself cannot be increased to 60fps.

With the issues plaguing “Final Fantasy Type-0 HD,” Square Enix is yet to come up with a statement addressing the problems. Meanwhile, players have already begun refunding their money through Steam’s refund system.
