Final 'Super Smash Bros.' presentation set for Dec. 15 with Cloud Strife as the main focus
After the reveal of Cloud Strife for “Super Smash Bros.,” it was stated that there would be one final presentation dedicated to the fighting game courtesy of Nintendo. Fans who like to “Smash” won’t have to wait much longer, as the official Twitter page of Nintendo states that the final “Smash Bros.” presentation will take place on Dec. 15.
The game’s director Masahiro Sakurai, according to Gematsu, will host the final video presentation. This is fitting, since it is the last time Nintendo makes a video presentation dedicated to the fighting game, and it will be interesting to see what Sakurai has in store for fans.
Details are a bit slim and only mention the fact that Cloud will be showcased during the presentation. The “Final Fantasy VII” protagonist is an upcoming downloadable character, and it’s possible that the presentation will detail its release date and price.
Cloud joins a fairly large roster, which already includes popular fighters like Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Sonic, Bowser and Pac-Man. Players can also have their Mii characters participate in fights if they want to, but the real meat of the game is seeing these classic Nintendo characters brawl around interesting environments.
Just to be clear, Cloud isn’t the only high-profile character to be released as downloadable content (DLC) for the game. Ryu from the ever-popular “Street Fighter” series was also added to the game earlier this year, complete with hadoukens and tornado kicks.
Showcasing Cloud Strife is an interesting move from the developer, considering that a gameplay video for the “Final Fantasy VII” remake was unveiled recently. With the character’s popularity at an all-time high, it can be considered smart for Nintendo to add him to the popular fighting game.
Fans of the spiky-haired protagonist will also be happy to know that Cloud will be playable in his “Advent Children” costume, along with his classic suit from the original game. He has a number of moves from the roleplaying game he came from, including his ridiculously powerful Omnislash.
“Super Smash Bros.” is available now on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The “Final Fantasy VII” remake doesn’t have a release date yet but will come out on PS4 first and will be an episodic game series.
