Fireworks expected as Xiaomi Mi 5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 both launch in January 2016
They might be doing this on purpose
Xiaomi's Mi 5 will clash head-on against Samsung's Galaxy S7 since both flagship phones have January 2016 release dates.
Xiaomi and Samsung might be doing this on purpose to pit these two phones against each other, said PC Tech Mag. Avid Samsung users strongly believe the Korean tech giant's upcoming flagship smartphone will easily trump the device from the Chinese handset maker.
After all, the Internet has been abuzz with reports Samsung now has its own touch sensitive technology called Clear Touch, which is pretty much the same as the 3D Force Touch technology featured in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Xiaomi isn’t about to give up, however, especially now that it’s rumoured to have a trick up its sleeve. The Chinese tech company also has its own touch sensitive feature and has allegedly patented a similar tech for its Mi 5 phone.
Other reports pointed out the Mi 5 will also feature Sense ID from Qualcomm, which has been described to be an "ultrasonic fingerprint sensing technology". Plus, it’s also expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor. Although this processor isn’t at par with Apple's A9 chipset, it’s worth noting it did get a "very high score and bodes well for the performance of phones with the Snapdragon inside".
With regards to its screen display, the Mi 5 could have a 5.2-inch Quad HD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with a 2,560 x 1,440 pixel resolution.
Samsung's Galaxy S7, meanwhile, is expected to feature an AMOLED 4K display, according to Latin Post. What will separate this upcoming smartphone from the rest is its new camera technology called Britecell. With this new feature, the device has better light sensitivity, especially when users have to take photos in low light conditions.
