A sketch reportedly released by Nokia shows a smart watch along with other devices. This has led to speculation that the first device the company could release after its purchase by Microsoft could be a smart watch.

The sketch shows crudely drawn smart phone and a watch. Pocket now speculates that this could be an indication that the company may be working on a smart watch device.

Nokia already has a Lumia series of smart phones. The smart phones line up has so far not been able to break the domination of the two smart phone giants Samsung and Apple. The series does however have some fans in the market and is expected to continue.

Microsoft is not expected to put a dent in the current or upcoming Lumia series smart phones. The company can, however, expect to make some inroads in hitherto unexplored markets like the new smart watch market.

Microsoft is reportedly working on a new smart watch, but analysts believe that the brand name of the company has traditionally been associated with software and more specifically windows. The acquisition of the company gives it a strong brand name in the smart phone market which can easily be carried on to the smart watch segment.

From Nokia's perspective analysts feel that this is in line with the tradition of the company. It was first known for making rubber boots over 150 years ago and since then the company has seen many transitions.

Nokia reportedly got into making mobile phones after facing financial difficulties. The company made huge financial gains in the mobile phones market, capturing a good amount of market share.

The advent of the smart phones and Nokia's inability to retain its dominant position has put the company on a path to innovation once again. Microsoft is also facing problems due to the use of iOS or Android in the Apple and Samsung devices, instead of windows. According to analysts there could be a future threat to Windows software as well.

Analysts feel that Nokia and Microsoft coming together will help combat the rising problems in the market. The company has two choices, say analysts, either to compete in the cut throat smart phone market with lower prices and better features or explore new avenues for growth.

With many companies including Samsung and Apple launching their smart watch devices in the near future, analysts believe that a new smart watch from Nokia and Microsoft is not too far off.
