First Ubuntu Touch Tablet vs Amazon Kindle Fire HD
By October 2013, the first Ubuntu Touch tablet will be ready for shipment. According to the Web site www.ubuntutablet.com.au, there are two devices to be shipped - Intermatrix U7 and U10 Ubuntu Tablets, the first of its kind in the world.
Enthusiasts have already pre-ordered the Intermatrix U7 for the price of AU$269 or $275 inclusive of the shipment cost and can be delivered worldwide. The price is subject to change in the future, but customers who have already pre-ordered will not have to pay additional charges even if the price increases and will receive a refund if the price gets lower. A 10 per cent discount as well is imposed for first 50 customers with 1 discount per unit per customer limit.
According to Webup8.org, the device is not affiliated or associated with Canonical:
"This is not a Canonical device; not are we affiliated or associated with Canonical. We're an independent company developing a tablet which will ship with Canonical's software. We've got the device currently under development, most of the work at the moment is getting the peripherals working under Ubuntu Touch. Obviously, we're highly dependent on when Canonical releases the final version of Ubuntu Touch, plus some time for us to test it before we start shipping."
Ubuntu is one of the independent operating system and can be installed to most devices running other OS. With a starting price of $275, let's see the specifications and features if its worth more than Amazon's Kindle Fire HD.
