'The Flash' season 2 episode 17 spoilers: Barry gets help from Dr Harrison to run faster

Barry (Grant Gustin) will be returning to Earth 2 in Season 2 Episode 17 of “The Flash,” titled “Flash Back.” Barry will try to stop Zoom from executing his evil plan by gaining more speed.

Previously, Barry and the team dealt with a new female speedster. At the end of Episode 16, it was also revealed that Jay Garrick was Zoom all along.

Now, Barry finds the need to come back to Earth-2 so he can learn how to move faster and eventually overcome Zoom.

“Barry becomes determined to get back to Earth-2 to stop Zoom, but he realises he needs to increase his speed. He travels back in time and masquerades as his earlier self to get his arch-nemesis Dr Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) to teach him how to run faster. But while there, Barry faces familiar foe Hartley Rathaway and old friend Eddie Thawne,” the episode synopsis states on TV Guide.

Carter Matt writes that based on the episode synopsis, “Flash Back” will be a giant episode, considering that there will be a number of familiar characters like Thawne, whom fans will see again after he died. Harrison Wells will also be making an appearance in his Earth-1 version.

Barry will be dealing with Dr Harrison, so he has to be cautious to avoid having the same fate as Garrick. As he improves his speed, he will get closer to defeating Zoom, whom the team suspected may be in danger because of his ever-increasing speed. Velocity 9 may be putting a toll on his body. Cavanagh was spotted in a wheelchair which means that he will appear in his earlier self as well.

Andy Mientus will return as the metahuman Hartley Rathaway, or Pied Piper, in the next episode. Barry’s plan to time travel will not go exactly as planned but he will be meeting his old enemy again. Iris (Candice Patton) will also be make peace with her background so that she can embrace her future. Her new boss will be flirting with her, so she might give in after some time.
