Forget Galaxy S5, Next Big-Thing from Samsung is Super-Thin Galaxy Note 4 with All-Screen Front & Curved Display Panel
All the Samsung hype right now is focused on the Galaxy S5, considered as the company's 2014 flagship, but the next phablet from the Asian tech giant, the Galaxy Note 4, could easily upstage the Galaxy S4 successor.
A new smartphone design patent from Samsung was discovered this week by Sammy Today and the sketches that were provided pointed to what would end up as beautifully-crafted device.
Looking at the images (viewable here), one could easily assume that it is the Galaxy S5 that is being showcased in patent filing. However, a closer on the back panel will reveal a stylus slot at the bottom portion.
Stylus or S-Pen is the signature companion tool of the Galaxy Note phablet series that Samsung has reintroduced via the first edition back in 2011.
Also, easily noticeable from the design sketches is the alleged Note 4's sprawling screen, which in the 2014 iteration will give no space for bezels, at least in the left and right side of the front panel. On the same panel portion, the front phone speaker is found sitting side by side with front camera sensor.
At the back, the rear camera is situated, bearing a configuration that is very much similar to that of the Galaxy S3. The cam lens is sandwiched by an LED flash on the left and a speaker on the right.
Looking on the edge of the device, the sketches revealed of a very thin build with the back plate and the display panel seemingly melding, somehow baring the likelihood of curved display that allows the screen to overlap on the side.
With the design language in place, it is assumed that the Galaxy Note 4 will provide flashing of messages in multiple angles, which is also a feature that is attributed to the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S5.
It is unclear if the Note 4 body material is made of plastic or metal though rumours about the GS5 suggest that it will be issued in two builds - one encased in premium metallic alloy and another in high-grade plastic.
It is highly likely that the same manufacturing approach will be employed in the volume production of the Galaxy Note 4.
No indications yet from Samsung on when it plans to refresh the Galaxy Note 3 but if the company's product upgrade cycle is to be referenced, the Galaxy Note 4 release date should fall right in late Q3 2014 or the early months of last quarter in the same year.
