Add retired British boxer Ricky Hatton as one of the boxing enthusiasts getting tired of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao failed negotiations. However, should the super fight indeed happen in 2015, the former boxing champion believes that undefeated American will win over the Filipino.

“More whispers that it could be happening. It’s a bit pathetic, personally, to be honest with you. You think they would just go, as far as the money goes, 50-50. But this one wants 51% and you get 49%… unbelievable,” Hatton shared with in an interview posted on Sunderland AFC’s YouTube. “The reason that you go in to boxing is to become the best. I fought the pair of them and they won’t fight each other. I’m thinking, from the whispers that I’m hearing, that it could happen, that they’re making progress. If i wasn’t a boxer, I would be a boxing fan and that’s the biggest fight out there.”

Hatton was at the Stadium of Light where he watched the Sunderland vs. Manchester City match. If ever the Mayweather and Pacquiao finally agrees to the big bout, Hatton also predicted the winner.

“I pick Mayweather, to be honest with you,” the 34-year-old Hatton declared mentioning Pacquiao’s latest defeats. Hatton admitted that it is still the best pairing in boxing today even though both Pacquiao and Mayweather hit their boxing primes years ago.

Hatton is one of the few fighters who has fought both Mayweather and Pacquiao so he has an idea on what the pair can expect when they meet on top of the ring. Hatton was defeated by Mayweather on Dec. 8, 2007 when he lost via a tenth round technical knockout (TKO) for the World Boxing Council (WBC) world welterweight title. Two years later, he suffered via embarrassing second round knockout (KO) courtesy of a powerful left punch from Pacquiao— the shot that would virtually end his status as one of boxing’s top contender and eventually, sent him to retirement.
