Four new ‘Mortal Kombat X’ characters teased by developer
“Mortal Kombat X” has easily become one of the best titles in the fighting video game series and continues to improve even as it expands. Its first expansion came in the form of Kombat Pack 1, which added four extra characters to the roster. Now, it seems the game will once again add new fighters to the fray with developer NetherRealm Studios hinting at a new Kombat Pack.
NetherRealm’s creative director Ed Boon took to Twitter early this morning to tease fans with an image of what looks like four new characters that could join the cast of “Mortal Kombat X.”. It’s almost impossible to guess which characters are shown, with the image only showing the silhouette of four characters. But it seems fans will not have to wait long for the reveal as Boon hinted that the characters will be revealed on Sept. 3.
There were several characters found in “Mortal Kombat X” that can be fought in Story Mode but cannot be used by players. Based on the image, the silhouette on the far left could be Tarkatan warrior Baraka, as he is known to sport a bald head and an armband that supports his blades. The remaining silhouettes, however, are harder to guess since they don’t immediately seem to be any “Mortal Kombat” series character. Either NetherRealm studios did a massive image overhaul on previous characters, or they could either be third-party entries.
Fans speculated that Bo Rai Cho, Sindel, Baraka and Raijin, might be the next Kombat Pack characters. Although these guesses are slightly far-fetched based on the appearances of the other characters, apart from Baraka , players have pointed out that it is possible these characters could be added as single character downloads in future additions, as was the case with Goro, who was sold separately from Kombat Pack 1.
NetherRealms Studios’ first Kombat Pack added four new characters to the roster, including franchise returnees Tanya and Tremor. The other two were third party characters, Predator and Jason Vorhees. Since then, Boon has been teasing fans of future DLCs, until it was confirmed earlier this week that more content really is on the way.
