The super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is less than two months away. Both fighters are currently working on their respective training camps to prepare for the fight of the century. As everyone continues to play analyst for the upcoming super fight, Pacquiao’s long time trainer Freddie Roach has revealed why he thinks his pupil has a very good chance at giving Mayweather his first-ever defeat. Roach knows that Pacquiao has a better edge at being declared as the winner rathen than Mayweather.

Speaking to Reuters following Zou Shiming’s loss to Thai Amnat Ruenroeng in Macau on March 7, Roach said that Mayweather is not like the fighter he once was. He said that Mayweather’s legs are shot. Roach added that Pacquiao’s snap on his punches can cause trouble to the undefeated American fighter.

“I say his (Mayweather) legs are a little shot, a little worn and I think Pacquiao has better legs at this moment at this time and I think maybe Pacquiao is a little faster than Mayweather and hits a little bit harder,” Roach said. “Mayweather has brittle fragile hands and is not the biggest puncher in the world, I think we have more assets to win the fight, I feel.”

Although Roach has high belief on his protégé to win the fight, he also admitted that it path towards victory for the Filipino eight-division world champion is not going to be an easy one. He said that they have to “fight the perfect fight to win.”

According to the veteran trainer, Mayweather is the biggest challenge of his celebrated career as a cornerman, by far. As the pressure continues to build up for the fight that the fans had been asking for five or six years, Roach wouldn’t want the pressure to affect their performance come May 2. He said that he loves challenges. Mayweather may be the best defensive fighter in recent years and it may be somewhat expected that he will attempt to dodge from Pacquiao’s big punches, but Roach believes that Pacquiao has got what it takes to beat the undefeated American.

After being in the corner of Shiming in Macau, Roach will take over Pacquiao’s training camp in Los Angeles. Pacquiao, who had completed light training sessions in his native Philippines, has arrived in the U.S. on Feb. 28 to continue his preparations for fight against Mayweather.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao has reportedly been working on how he can break Mayweather’s defensive prowess. Pacquiao revealed to CBS Sports that his team has been trying to figure out how they can make a way into Mayweather’s defense when they began camp in the Philippines. Pacquiao hinted that they have already devised an offensive plan on how to shatter the Mayweather’s vaunted defense.

Pacquiao and Mayweather are set to square off on Cinco de Mayo weekend on May 2 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Will Pacquiao beat Mayweather or will he be the latest addition in the list of fighters who have failed to beat the brash American?
