Tango, the free mobile video calling app, has been made available on desktop PCs running on Windows OS with a Mac version to be made available later this year.

Tango co-founder Eric Setton made the announcement Friday, one year after the app was launched on iOS and Android. On PCs, Tango will run on those with XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

The Windows platform was chosen for the Tango PC version because it was the most popular request of Tango users aside from it being the most used platform--1.5 billion desktop computers worldwide.

There is no difference between the Tango for mobile phones and the Tango for PCs. Both will be easy to use; no logging in or password, just type in your mobile phone number and e-mail address and it's on.

On initial launch, the Tango on PC will add into the address book contacts using the same app or those in your phone's contact list. Additional contacts can be added by sending them an invite via SMS or e-mail.

Tango retains the iPhone-look skin and minimalist feature. There are no buttons for group calling, text chat, file sharing options or credits to purchase.

Tango's voice and video calling will also remain free, though optional paid services will be made available later this year.
There are currently 23 million Tango users and membership is growing by 70,000 to 80,000 per day. With its debut on PCs, that number is expected to explode further.

The Tango app for PC is available for downloading at the company's website: www.tnago.me.
