Fresh Leak Shows Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime With 5 MP Front-Facing Shooter, Dual-SIM Support And More
A brand new smartphone from Samsung named Galaxy Grand Prime is in the offing. The company is marketing this device as a "selfie phone," owing to the demand for smartphones that capture the best selfies. Staying true to the name, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime will reportedly come with a 5 MP front-facing shooter. Notably, other Grand series of phones come with only 2 MP snapper in the front.
However, the Galaxy Grand Prime, considered as the successor of the much-loved Galaxy Grand 2, is still not official. Going by the leaked information from Vietnam, the device will feature a 5.0-inch display bundled with qHD screen resolution that translates to 960 x 540 pixels. It is worth noting that the Galaxy Grand 2 came with a 5.25-inch display with 720p resolution, hence its successor Galaxy Grand Prime's display size and resolution has been reduced. Nevertheless, the latest handset is better than the original Galaxy Grand handset, which comes with a 5.0-inch WVGA display, says GSM Arena.
In addition, the device will reportedly come with a good 8 MP main camera unit that has the capability to record 1080p videos. The upcoming Galaxy handset will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and backed by 1 GB of RAM. In terms of OS, the Galaxy Grand 2 will run on the latest version of Android v4.4 KitKat OS.
Similar to other Grand series of phones, the Galaxy Grand 2 will also support dual-SIM mode. Apart from the standard connectivity options like Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, the smartphone will also support 3G connectivity. The handset will also be equipped with 8 GB of internal storage capacity and microSD card slot for further expansion.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime release date is set for October, specific to Vietnam. Even though Samsung is marketing this device as a selfie phone, there are quite a few solid competitors waiting to fight it out when the device is released. The competitors include the Sony Xperia C3 and the Nokia Lumia 730, to name a few. Notably, the aforementioned devices also support dual-SIM mode.
