Fujifilm launched two new mega-zoom cameras, S9900W and S9800. The specs of these mega-zoom or bridge cameras are the same as Fujifilm's, S9400W and S9200 models but the new models have a lot of improvements and some new features.

The company told Digital Trends that they were concentrating on rugged and long zoom point and shoot cameras. The main target being the premium camera market. The company also unveiled XP90.

The S9900W and S9800 are identical in that they have a similar optical zoom of 50x with a 24-1200mm focal range (35mm equivalent) and an f/2.9-6.5 aperture range. Here are the other specs.

Image stabilisation

Both the cameras have a five-axis image stabilization. The vertical and horizontal shifts can be stabilised using digital stabilisation. There is a two axis optical stabilisation and three axis image electronic stabilisation. It works well while shooting videos and taking pictures as well.

Video mode

The cameras can shoot full HD videos at up to 60fps. But it is interlaced and not progressive. The ISO ranges up to 12,800 and it starts and cools down very fast as well. It takes 0.15 seconds to start up and 0.6 seconds to cool down. It also has a built-in feature which allows you to trim and join videos through the Movie Trimming and Movie Join options.

Burst Mode

In the burst mode, both the camera's can take 10 frames per second in the burst mode. These pictures are all in full resolution and HDR images can be created as the camera offers multi-frame processing. Time lapse sequences can be shot too, reports Techradar.

Super Macro Mode

Though built to shoot far away objects, its super macro mode allows one to take pictures of subjects that are close by. The 1 centimeter Super Macro Mode for close ups are very clear and the images look brilliant.

Electronic View Finder

These bridge cameras have an electronic viewfinder with a 920k-dot resolution. They also have a 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel CMOS sensor. The older models have lower resolution screens. The display on the back of the camera is just like older models which is 3-inch and 460,000-dot resolution.

Wi-Fi

The S9900W is Wi-Fi enabled. Fuji's Camera Remote app helps control the camera wirelessly.

Availability and Price

The cameras will be available from March 2015. The S9800 and S9900W costs £270/$330 and £300/$350 respectively. The camera is available in three colours - red, black and white.
