'Furious 7' Advanced Screening: Vin Diesel Chokes-Up Remembering Paul Walker, Says It Was 'Hardest Movie' For Him [Video]
Vin Diesel got very emotional remembering his late co-star and friend Paul Walker at the advanced screening of “Furious 7” in Los Angeles. The action star got so choked-up at the event, which took place on March 16, that he could not speak. The members in the audience then cheered him up saying that they are his “family.” Check out the video below.
"This was a labor of love. It was in some ways the hardest movie I ever had to do, because the relationships that you see on film are so real," said Diesel at the advanced screening of “Furious 7,” which is the last film for Walker. The actor died of a tragic car crash in November 2013 at a very young age on 40. Walker was shooting for the same film when he died.
Diesel spoke to the audience and reminisced about a time when the tragedy happened. He said he not only lost his best friend but also his brother when Walker died. At that point, the 47-year-old actor became so emotional that he found it difficult to continue his speech. The crowd noticed Diesel getting quiet and hence cheered him up. The actor soon gained control of his emotions and thanked the audience for being his family and “taking care” and “believing in us."
Film's producer Neal Moritz also requested the fans not to reveal what happens to Walker's character in the film. The film was screened in advance for a handful of audience at the recent SXSW festival in Los Angeles but will release worldwide on April 3. The makers of the film were left in jeopardy following Walker's death as he had already shot most of the film. Walker's brothers stepped in to help complete the shooting for remaining part of the film.
Moritz said that the film was the “highlight” of his career as he is very proud to complete it. He also added that “Walker would be smiling down on all of us.” “Furious 7” stars Diesel, Walker along with Tyrese, Ludacris and Michelle Rodriguez. The film also stars villain Jason Statham.
