Samsung seems to have one mantra when it comes to innovation - "go bigger." The company released a new phone in the U.S which has only one big difference from the other phones from its stable - it's bigger. The phone called as "Galaxy Mega" comes with a 6.3 inch screen. The phone can be considered a phablet - a crossover between a phone and a tablet.

The phone comes with a 1.7 GHz dual core processor, a 1.5 GB RAM, 8 MP Camera, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and a 3200mAh battery. The biggest feature of the phone is the 6.3 inch screen with a 720 p display.

The phone can also function as a remote control to a home theater and comes with a "WatchON" service which recommends shows to the user based on the users' tastes.

The phone features "Multi Window" display allowing the users to view content on different screens at the same time.

The "Story Album" feature puts the photos taken by the user with the phone into a multi-media album.

The phone will also feature the "Air View," which helps the users to preview something simply by pointing at it without having to touch.

Users will also get the S Translator, which helps translate content into different languages.

""Galaxy Mega is an ideal smartphone to demonstrate the value of Sprint's unlimited 4G LTE data plans. This new device combines the creativity of a tablet and the productivity and portability of a smartphone with the availability of the Sprint Unlimited Guarantee on the Unlimited, My WaySM or My All-inSM plan," Said Fared Adib, senior vice president-Product Development, Sprint according to a press release by the company.

The phone has not yet been launched in Australia but is available for pre-order. The price of a 8 GB phone is around $519 in Mobicity. It comes in two colors - black and white in the online store.

The launch of the phone comes at a time when Nokia is also reportedly working on a 6 inch smartphone. It will be interesting to see which phone will emerge as the dominant player in the phablet market.
