There are new indications that the upcoming Galaxy Note 3 will carry over the 5.5-inch screen display seen in the Galaxy Note 2 and the new phablet has gathered sufficient steam to outpace the Galaxy S4.

Samsung will likely stick to the Note 2 screen footprint following reports that two new devices with hulking screen displays will be unleashed later this year. According to SamMobile, two versions of Galaxy Mega will be rolled out this year, bearing the following screen sizes: 5.9-inch and 6.3-inch.

These are same devices that were earlier reported and were then called Galaxy Fonblet. The name-change, it appears, was motivated marketing considerations. Obviously, Galaxy Mega spells better name recall compare to the weird-sounding Galaxy Fonblet.

Leaving that for now, it is likely that the Note 3 will hit the market September this year sporting too the already massive 5.5-inch screen display that Samsung first used with the Note 2, Gotta Be Mobile said in report.

Leaving the Note 3 screen size untouched will allow the upcoming device to keep the Samsung phablet signature, distinguishing it from the slew of large screen gadgets that the Asian tech giant has been producing.

It makes sense too that Samsung would want to limit the heft that the Note 3 will bring to the table while not necessarily restricting Galaxy smartphone engineers from toying with the idea of stretching screen sizes but maintaining the Note 2's form factor.

The focus is to deliver innovations for each Note versions while considering ease of use in gadget handling. It must have occurred to Samsung designers that the Note 3 is mainly a smartphone and pushing its size to the limit will somehow discomfort users.

And the same is not true with the planned Galaxy Mega, which earlier reports said are small tablets that also offer the secondary functions of mobile phone.

Also, as the Galaxy Note 3 develops into a more powerful handset - getting an across the board implementation of the 8-core Exynos Octa 5 CPU and possibly the Key Lime Pie - it is not far-fetched that Samsung and Android fans will regard it as the better option compared to the recently unveiled Galaxy S4.

Come its expected Q4 2013 availability, the Note 3 in fact will replicate what the S4 has to offer and more. Its hardware and software capabilities should be a notch higher, prompting global consumers to take a second hard look.

One thing that could convince gadget buyers to pick the Note 3 over the S4 is the price factor. The two Galaxy handsets are expected to carry near-identical price tags and even if the former will prove a bit pricey the extra costs are amply covered by the premium features buyers are getting.

The possibility is there that come report time in 2014, it is the Samsung phablet that will deliver the 100 million units sales that the South Korean firm has set for the Galaxy S4.
