It is phablet galore in the months ahead as Samsung reportedly geared for a May release date for two new oversized smartphones - the 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega.

In a new report, SamMobile provided the latest specs for big-screen mobile phones, which inevitably will cross paths with their more high-end cousin - the Galaxy Note 3 that is set for a grand unveiling later this year.

The smaller 5.8-inch Mega packs a dual-core CPU with 1.5GB of RAM, a qHD screen display resolution, a camera mix of 8MP on rear and 2MP in front and an energy source of 2600mAh battery.

The hulking 6.3-inch version, on the other hand, is likely a 720p handset throttles with the same dual-core powerhouse chip, a camera tandem of 8MP on main and 2MP on secondary and a battery with a rating of 3200mAh.

Both devices will run on JellyBean by the time they join Samsung's growing stable of phablets or hybrid smartphones.

But will they be able to make a dent on the market segment that Samsung has created when it introduced the first-generation Galaxy Note. By September this year, the Galaxy Note 3 is believed to be making its way to global markets and basing on the rumoured specs, the new phablet promises to be creeping behemoth.

The Note 3, reports said, is the first recipient of Samsung's full Exynos Octa 5 implementation, deviating from the selective deployment of the new chip architecture on the Galaxy S4.

That attribute alone signals a more powerful phablet that doesn't require an energy overdose as advertised in previous releases covering the in-house Samsung CPU technology.

And it only gets better. The Note 3 will finally showcase the flexible, unbreakable if you will, display screen, that was first touted for the GS4. Also, the S-Pen will get more amazing tweaks that would eclipse previous rendition of the stylus technology that Samsung had boldly resurrected.

Lastly, since the Galaxy Note 3 is slated for a full-scale Q4 2013 release date, it should be the first Samsung smartphone to show off the capabilities that Google will unleash via the Key Lime Pie on May. This phablet, no doubt, is a full-course serving that will induce cravings among the millions who already own the first two editions.

It may lack the screen-size punch that the two Galaxy Megas will bring to the table but the Galaxy Note 3's brimming arsenal makes it an easy winner despite sporting a front real estate that probably measure between 5.5-inch and 5.9-inch.
