Apple and Samsung's rivalry continues with the launch of iPhone 6 and upcoming release of Galaxy Note 4. The iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note 4 come with comparable specs dividing experts and consumers on which phablet is the more ideal choice.

iPhone 6 and Galaxy Note 4 Demand

Apple went ahead with its release dropping the iPhone 6 Plus in stores last September 19. Its phablet venture appears to be successful as the company broke the 10-million record during its first weekend. According to Forbes, Apple posted the record-breaking results despite not tapping into the largest smartphone market in the world, China. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 weekend sales toppled the first weekend sales of the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s.

Apple has sold the iPhone 6 to the following regions: Canada, Germany, US, Hong Kong, Australia, France, Puerto Rico, Japan, United Kingdom and Singapore.

Analyst predictions about the Galaxy Note 4 also appear positive. According to CNET, carriers in South Korea enjoyed a high demand for the device cutting the preorder short. Major South Korean carriers like LG Uplus, KT and SK Telecom have exhausted their preorders because of the influx of demand for the Note 4. SK Telcom, the country's largest network provider, sold out its preorder units within 9 hours. SK Telecom holds 50.3 percent of the country's market share presently.

The three carriers carried out a preorder period starting September 18 to September 25. There are still no definite sales figures for Samsung.

iOS 8 vs Android L

Apple and Samsung also compete with their UI although it is more of an iOS vs Android rivalry. Nonetheless, both iOS 8 and Android L offer major departures from their previous system. Apple's iOS 8 offers a harp modern look while Google promises the Android L's "Material Design" to be flatter and more intuitive. Apple focuses more on the simple, clean and sleek look. Notification has also been the focus for both companies. The iOS 8 comes big with more interactive notifications. This allows users to respond to their notifications without accessing the app. Android L focuses on headline notifications. The iOS 8 got a headstart from the Android L as Google has not announced the official rollout of the platform.
