Boasting of a new form-factor, Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge will slug it out with the instantly popular iPhone 6 Plus in the weeks and months ahead.

Yet while the first Apple phablet appears to enjoy better traction with consumers worldwide, the Note Edge can count on key advantages that are not found on the 6 Plus.

Below are the four winning killer features buyers will get with the Galaxy Note Edge:

Options to modify

Samsung has introduced a new design with the Note Edge with the device's curved screen on the right edge serving as second independent mini-screen. Still, the overall build is of the Galaxy signature that is known for its familiar feature - the removable back cover.

With users able to easily peel out the handset's back plate, they can replace the stock battery with a fully charged up back up that will extend the device's operating hours.

If the need arises for extra memory space, and these days it will likely happen, the Note Edge's memory expansion slot will readily accommodate up to 128GB of additional digital room.

Now both are just impossible to happen with the closed-shell iPhone 6 Plus.

Multitasking monster

Apple will reportedly add multitasking capability on its latest line up of iOS devices, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus including, with a planned iOS 8 update soon. The feature, is an out of the box experience with the Note Edge as kit permits the viewing (and working on) of two application windows side by side.

Also with the curved screen on the edge, Note Edge owners can actually do two things at the same time such as receiving an incoming call while enjoying a YouTube clip or checking on Facebook news feeds.

The Note Edge 'second screen' flashes too useful information - time of the day and weather updates - even when the main display panel is on stand-by mode.

Note-friendly

One feature, perhaps, of the Samsung Galaxy Note series that will never be replicated by Apple is its stylus tool. The Note Edge's S-Pen has been further enhanced that taking note on the phablet is merely like writing on a premium piece of paper.

Quick charging

The Note 4 and the Note Edge came equipped with Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging unit that accelerates charging time when it matters most. That means mere 30 minutes of plug-time on a power socket can deliver hours of energy juice.

And one more compelling reason to get the Galaxy Note Edge this 2014 holiday season is the irresistible Black Friday deals that retailers will surely offer.
