Galaxy S II will be the first HSPA+ Phone in Australia
Samsung's Galaxy S II will be the first smartphone in Australia that is HSPA+ compatible. It will be capable of download link speeds of up to 21Mbps. Optus, Telstra and Vodafone have all announced that it will make this smart phone available in the next few months.
The Galaxy S II is a smaller and thinner edition of the Galaxy S. The S II will run on the Android OS and is faster with a 1.2 Ghz Dual core processor. The phone has an 8 mega pixel rear facing camera with flash and a 4.3" inches Super Amoled Plus Screen. The Galaxy S II has been the closest rival to Apple's iPhone with new Enterprise features.
HSPA+ also known as Evolved High-Speed Packet Access is a wireless broadband standard that provides data rates up to 84 Mbs on the download rates. The figures represent a peak speed only. Users should expect actual download speeds of only 8 Mbps. Telstra offers speeds that go only as high as 14.4 Mbps.
Optus will launch the Galaxy S II on June 1st for all of its business plans. Telstra will provide the phone for their users in July. Vodafone hasn't released any concrete plans for the Galaxy but the company is expected to release one in the next few weeks.
