After the roll out of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update a few weeks ago, Samsung Galaxy S3 users have been anticipating an update, not to the current one but to the newer Android 4.4 KitKat.

Here is a rundown of what not to expect to the latest Android candy bar update: the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat.

In September, two important announcements were made. First, Google revealed the Android 4.4 KitKat update which replaces the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. This packs some features which include a new dialer, new immersion mode and a lot more. Apart from its own Nexus, Google did not make any announcement about the roll out of the update to other Android devices.

Second, Samsung announced the update of the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4 that will feature the Galaxy Gear Support. Although many fans kept their fingers crossed that it will be the most awaited Android 4.4 KitKat, it was the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Currently, there are no official announcements made by Samsung about the Android 4.4 KitKat yet.

Release Date Information

Samsung remained mum about their plans about the Android 4.4 KitKat despite the release of the latest candy bar update on some other manufacturers. As of the moment, it is safe to say that there will be no KitKat update until the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update on the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S4 is done.

Galaxy S3 users should not expect much detail about the upgrade as Samsung is known to be quite light in terms of its software updates.

Don't expect official announcement from Samsung itself, rather expect a bunch of vague release date information that is actually ahead of the actual date.

Do not expect official release dates from Samsung. Most carriers are known to release vague release windows such as "soon" or "coming weeks." Rarely do these companies commit to specific release dates so as not to set the expectations of their users. Keep in mind that when it comes to software release dates, it can change at an instant.
