The Galaxy S5 release date, contrary to earlier reports, will be on April 2014 and along with the next hero phone, Samsung is also launching its second Galaxy Gear.

This according to Business Insider, which pointed to Samsung senior executive Lee Young Hee as the source of information.

While the prospect of having a revamped Galaxy Gear, said to be slimmer and smarter on its second coming, to go with the GS5 may not actually excite the growing Sammy crowd, the upcoming device's supposed power specs and features are drawing so much attention.

One of them, per Lee's recent interview with Bloomberg, is the possibility of packing an iris or eye scanner with the Galaxy S5. Obviously, this will be Samsung's response to the cool TouchID fingerprint scanner that the iPhone 5S came installed with.

Lee told Bloomberg that "we are studying the possibility but can't really say whether we will have it (eye scanner) or not on the S5."

Apparently, the Asian tech giant is also experimenting on the likelihood of pairing the GS5's eye scanner with its version of fingerprint reader, thus bolstering the security features of the Galaxy S4 successor.

A TouchID-like feature in the Galaxy S5 is highly likely, Taiwanese publication DigiTimes said in a report. As usual, the same report referred to its source as an industry insider.

Meanwhile in a separate report, SamMobile hinted too of one sure-fire killer feature that will be unleashed with the Galaxy S5. The GS5 will be capable of sensing and interpreting various head gestures, allowing users to manipulate the device by mere winks and nods.

The same feature, SamMobile said, is explicitly implied in a recently discovered patent that Samsung has filed in July 2013.

Noting that the technology is likely ready once the Galaxy S5 enters the mass production stage, which should happen in the next few weeks, SamMobile boldly predicted that "the Galaxy S5 could come with advanced gesture controls that go way beyond what is available on devices right now."

These new Galaxy S5 chatters add up to earlier suggestions that at least two key versions of the smartphone can be expected - one is premium made and will be framed in stainless steel with diamond coating to guard against dents and scratches.

Another edition will be encased in the usual plastic material that is standard on all Galaxy devices but with composite blend for added durability.

And while wild rumours continue to fly, Samsung somehow confirmed that like the iPhone 5S, the Galaxy S5 on release date will be flexing a 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU in full 8-core implement, which will work in tandem with a 4GB of RAM.
