Samsung must be a in a good mood to rush the Galaxy S5 release date on Q1 2014 - its second 2013 flagship, the Galaxy Note 3, is doing very well as it successfully shipped out some 10 million units in record 60 days.

The feat, according to BGR, makes the Note 3 the fastest-selling phablet ever, whether manufactured by Samsung or other device makers.

It should be interesting to note that the Note 3's predecessor, the Galaxy Note 2, only chalked up 5 million sales in around the same time frame, per a report from Android Central.

And the likelihood is with the manner the Note 3 is zooming up, it's only a matter of time before it overtakes the Galaxy S4, which according to analysts is now on the declining stage barely a year after it debuted in March 2013.

The development should prompt Samsung to swiftly move forward and advance the arrival of its next hero phone, which many agree would be the Galaxy S5.

Persistent rumours suggest that the GS5 is coming out earlier than usual and the biggest motivation for Samsung to do that is to sustain its incredible fiscal showing in the past few quarters that cover half of 2012 and most of 2013.

Obviously, if the GS4 is already faltering showing off better numbers for Q1 2014 results would be a more difficult task if Samsung would rely solely on its 2013 flagship.

So the Asian tech giant needs to summon its supposed next heavy-hitter - the Galaxy S5. The device's early launch should pick up from the GS4 and provide support for the surging Note 3, which is expected to keep its momentum well into early 2014.

There were reports coming from South Korean publications that Samsung indeed is pushing hard to get the Galaxy S5 earlier to retail channels, with the device's volume production allegedly set to start in January 2014.

Along that line, Samsung could prep for it first Unpacked Event in 2014, likely by late January. That would set up the Galaxy S5 for a February release date, which should come within the first two weeks of the month.

Said to pack high-end components, headlined by a 64-bit Exynos processing chip, and a metallic housing plus wraparound display panel that overlaps on the edges, the Galaxy S5 is touted as a beastly smartphone with a radically slimmed down profile from the previous build.

On release date, the Galaxy S5 would display Android OS KitKat 4.4.2 to slug it out with the first Apple phablet, the iPhone 6, which is whispered to be unleashed a few months after the GS5.
