The killer features that the Galaxy S5 would unwrap on its 2014 release date are beyond imagination, that is if the next Samsung flagship will get to use the freshly announced quad-core Snapdragon 805 from Qualcomm.

The chipmaker revealed this week the processing behemoth that will soon bumped off the already impressive Snapdragon 800 as the preferred powerhouse of top-notch smartphones and tablet computers.

Of course there is no assurance that Qualcomm's new creation will be part of the GS5 package that will be unwrapped in 2014. First in line to fuel up the GS5 into life is Samsung's Exynos pride, that is a given.

However, the Snapdragon 805 cannot be discounted altogether as Samsung has this tendency to deploy its high-end gadgets in different CPU flavours. Remember that the GS4 and the Galaxy S3 before it were distributed bearing various chip monsters inside of them and top-of-the-line Snapdragon chips are always part of the deal.

And another thing to note, Qualcomm has hinted that mass availability of Snapdragon 805 is set for the first half of 2014, which suits with the supposed release calendar already plotter for the Galaxy S5.

So the likelihood is, Samsung will again rollout the GS5 in a number of variants and should Qualcomm ends up delivering its new CPU pride to the South Korean tech giant's production lines, Sammy (and Android) fans can expect the following:

Ultra HD experience in a mobile device

Qualcomm dubbed the Snapdragon 805 as the first processing chip truly capable of mustering Ultra HD rendering in a mobile set up, thanks to its Adreno 420 GPU. Instantly, 4K immersive video comes to mind, which Qualcomm said is one of the core considerations when the 805 was designed.

Recent reports suggested that the GS5 will flash a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 with 560ppi, still short of 4K. Now that a better technology is available, it would be prudent of Samsung to go for the kill and implement 4K instead then waylay the competition in the process.

Superior app and web browsing behaviour

Packed with the 805 is a quad-core Krait 450 CPU, which is capable of thumping away at a speed of 2.5GHz on each core. It also supports 25.6Gbps of memory bandwidth, leading to this exciting picture - applications that work in snap and Internet moments characterised by quick page loadings.

Advanced mobile connectivity

The 805 is in full support of LTE, which is anticipated as one of the major features to be served up by the Galaxy S5. Should the processing chip makes it inside of the GS5, it can rely on the Gobi MDM9x25 or the Gobi MDM9x35. That would mean download speed of up to 300Mbps when paired with an LTE-Advanced infra or 150Mbps for the previous LTE protocol.

On Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth connection, stability is further enhanced while operating range is further extended. Users are assured of good router or device pairing with longer reach than before.

Superb camera capabilities

Embedded inside the Snapdragon 805 is a new mobile camera processor that will be a game-changer for smartphones trying to outpace each other in the tightening mobile device shooting race. "First Gpixel/s throughput camera support in a mobile processor designed for a significant increase in camera speed and imaging quality. Sensor processing with gyro integration enables image stabilization for sharper, crisper photos," Qualcomm said on its press release.

Efficient power use

With the Snapdragon 805, the GS5 would be a certified muscle car but minus the dreaded gas-guzzling character. Its horsepower is stretched to the maximum but the 805 is easy on the battery and that feature alone makes the Galaxy S5 a definitive slayer of rival devices.

Per Qualcomm: "Using a smartphone or tablet powered by Snapdragon 805 processor is like having an Ultra HD home theatre in your pocket, with 4K video, imaging and graphics, all built for mobile."

Rumoured release date of the Galaxy S5 is Q1 2014 though if the 805 is accommodated by Samsung, the waiting time could spread out a bit into second quarter of the same year.
