Samsung Galaxy S5 has featured major upgrades on hardware and software of Galaxy S4, showing differences from S3 to S4 transition, from display to processor and from Galaxy S app to new battery technology. Here are eight best things you'll get from the new Galaxy S5.

New Processor And Power Management

There are two variants of Galaxy S5 running different processor cores set for release this year. One variant features Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor while the other is expected to boast the 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU.

Exynos 6 octa-core processor doesn't only bring 64-bit processing capabilities but also features 50 percent reduced power consumption leading to half of heat generated compared to the previous version running Galaxy S4.

Built Quality

Galaxy S5 is not only going to come out with two different processor brands but also in two different built qualities. According to confirmed specifications, Galaxy S5 is going to be sold in both plastic and metal version which defines how expensive one from the other.

Plastic Galaxy S5 is expected to be sold around €650 while the metallic version of the smartphone may cost around €800 per unit. It is pretty similar to what Apple did on the latest iPhone series having two different exterior sold in different price tag - iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

Display And Screen

It is still going to sport Super AMOLED display technology with 5.25 inches in size and feature an upgrade resolution of QHD 2560 x 1440 compared to the HD 1080 x 1920 of Galaxy S4 with 5 inches. This means the device can display higher quality of images and videos using higher pixel density and better resolution. Expect the Galaxy S5 will also feature the latest Corning Gorilla Glass but may only be available on the metallic version.

Upgraded Camera

Galaxy S4 boasts 13 MP rear camera shooter with dual shot and HD video recording. But in Galaxy S5, you'll see 16 MP rear camera instead powered by Android 4.4 KitKat new features. However, there is no official confirmation yet if Samsung managed to finish the requirements and components for the Optical Image Stabilization module on the device.

Optical Image Stabilization is an important feature for cameras on flagship smartphones and Xperia Z2 Sirius boasts such module.

New Battery Technology

A 2900 mAh battery pack will be added on the Galaxy S5 which 300 higher than Galaxy S4. Moreover, Samsung has been reported to feature a rapid charging and new Lithium-ion technology on the battery unit.

Rapid charging support is very similar to what Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 use which allow owners to charge it to the fullest. New type of Li-ion battery on the Galaxy S5 stores 20 percent more energy than currently available batteries in the market that somehow acts similar to LG's G2 SiO+ battery.

Galaxy S Apps

Updated exclusive Galaxy S apps are also included on the Galaxy S5 and upcoming Galaxy Note 4 in late 2014. Synaptics reported Samsung improved touch solutions with better hovering detection on services such as Air View that will make it responsive on greater distance than the technology on Galaxy S4 and Note 3.

Android 4.4 KitKat And TouchWiz UI

Unlike with the upcoming update on Galaxy S4 and Note 3, Android 4.4 KitKat firmware and TouchWiz UI on the Galaxy S5 are all maximized down to hardware level. TouchWiz UI on Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 features the same found on the PRO editions of Galaxy Note and Tab tablets while new security feature from Samsung is backed up by the hardened shell of updated Linux on Android 4.4. It boasts a whole-new design magazine style, new icon packs and improvement notifications based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Galaxy S5 Variants

As with Galaxy S4 and S3, Galaxy S5 will also have variants such as Mini and Zoom that are both expected to become available around May or June after the main flagship is out. Both Galaxy S5 Mini and Zoom will feature Android 4.4 KitKat and Super AMOLED display technology with 4.80-inch and qHD resolution on Zoom.
