Galaxy S8 Plus & iPhone 7 Plus display comparison: S8’s Facial Recognition feature adds extra edge
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus is undoubtedly one of the most-impressive smartphones in the market today. But it will be interesting to see how it compares against the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
The upcoming flagship from the South Korean giant has 6.2 inches of display, which is pretty big for those with small hands. An illustration has surfaced online, comparing the screen sizes of iPhone 7 Plus and Galaxy S8 Plus, both premium, high-end phones. Going by the illustration, the iPhone looks outdated. The sketches were released by Slashleaks, and they reveal that Samsung has finally found a way to keep the size down but at the same time offer a big screen. The Galaxy S8 Plus is about the same size as the iPhone 7 Plus.
It is 4mm narrower than the iPhone 7 Plus. The Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to come with a 6.2-inch screen, whereas, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5-inch display. Thus, Samsung is offering a bigger screen with more display. Moreover, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus handsets will be taller than their predecessors as screen-to-size ratios are now much better, writes Tom’s Guide. The Samsung flagship could be announced at a press event in New York City on March 29. The Galaxy S8 Plus will also likely have a dedicated button for Bixby personal assistant.
It will also reportedly have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and a versatile desktop dock. According to Wccftech, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus look more or less the same in the leaked illustrations. The 6.2-inch phablet should have been larger than the iPhone 7 Plus. However, as the flagship will sport more screen-to-body ratio, it will have the same dimensions as the 5.5-inch Apple powerhouse.
The Investor has reported that Samsung is looking to add facial recognition feature to Galaxy S8 Plus as its Iris Scanner is too slow. The new feature may either complement the scanner or replace it altogether. While there are also rumours about Apple is bringing facial recognition technology too in iPhone 8, Samsung is looking to beat Apple on this front. Many experts are arguing that using facial recognition, every time a user wants to unlock the phone, may turn out to be cumbersome.
Experts believe that the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will have an advantage over the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Fans do not need to wait for long as Samsung will be unveiling its highly-hyped flagship soon.
