Galaxy Tab 4 Nook Features Barnes & Noble’s Interface with Free Content Bundle
Barnes & Nobles held an event at its flagship store in Union Square in New York last Aug. 20 to reveal the fruit of its partnership with Samsung. It unveiled the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. It looks identical to the regular Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 but its user interface is different from the stock Galaxy Tab 4. It has the Barnes & Noble theme that looks similar to the previous Nook tablets. It still remains as a "reading tablet" for e-books and Barnes & Noble book recommendations and deals are found on the home screen. A quick access to the library is one of its features where users can easily go back to the last book it read. According to CNET, Barnes & Nobles improved the Nook interface and its recommendation engine. The device runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat and allows users to have full access to Google play and load a lot of apps.
Like the regular Galaxy Tab 4, the new one also sports a 7-inch display but according to Barnes & Nobles, it is the thinnest Nook tablet measuring 0.35 inch thick and weighs 9.7 ounces. It is powered by a quad-core processor, 5GB of RAM, an 8GB built-in storage and it supports micor SD.
The Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is priced at $179 which costs $20 less than the regular Galaxy Tab 4 at $199. An instant rebate in Barnes & Noble's online and brick-and-mortar stores, according to CNET. A $200 worth of free content from Barnes & Noble, three e-books and three TV episodes are also included. A $5 worth of credits for apps or movies at the Nook store is also made available.
According to CNET, Barnes & Noble made a less risky and affordable proposition rather than making its new hardware given the fact that the company had a rough time in 2013. The Galaxy Tab 4 may not be the most exciting device, but the Samsung brand is a bit powerful and it would be safer investment compared to Nook, according to CNET. The Only thing that sets the new tablet apart from the Galaxy Tab 4 is the Nook Content and the Nook Store.
