'Game of Thrones' Season 7 spoilers: Jon Snow's birth name may have been revealed
Jon Snow’s real parents have been revealed, now “Game of Thrones” Season 7 is expected to reveal his real name. A fan, however, was able to figure out the name through lip reading the scene involving the Young Ned Stark.
[Spoiler alert]
A fan with the Reddit handle sparkledavisjr believes that Lyanna told her brother that the name of her son is Jaehaerys, which is the name of two Targaryen kings who were considered to be good rulers. The name, if true, would confirm that Rhaegar and the Stark girl were indeed in love.
According to the books written by George R.R. Martin, Jaehaerys I Targaryen was the grandson of Aegon the Conqueror and had a dragon named Vermithor. His reign was one of the most prosperous amongst all the Targaryens.
Similarly, Jaehaerys II Targaryen also earned a good name in the history books. The old king is Jon Snow’s (it Harington) great-grandfather. He mended ties with all the major Houses of Westeros, who were not happy during the reign of Aegon V (Egg), brother of Maester Aemon (Peter Vaughan).
Jon Snow still doesn’t know his real name and his heritage. This is expected to be revealed in “Game of Thrones” Season 7. HBO has already removed any remaining doubt about whether Jon is the baby shown in the Tower of Joy scene, by releasing an infographic on Making Game of Thrones that shows the relationships of various characters of the show to Lyanna.
“Game of Thrones” Season 7 is set to return in 2017. With winter finally arriving, the season may now look at the White Walker invasion in earnest. Jon Snow has been declared the King in the North, but will he take on the responsibility of the Iron Throne after learning the truth about his parents and his claim?
