Games Watch: Battlefield 4 Coming to Mobile, Rift Goes Free-to-Play & ZombiU Gets a Sequel
It seems that the next-gen consoles Xbox 720 or Infinity, PS4, and the PC or the current-gen consoles are not the only gadgets that you can use to play Frostbite 3.0 games such as Battlefield 4-these games may be heading to your mobile devices as well.
Electronic Arts has already confirmed that they have been working on mobile platforms, reports Game Informer.
"One of our most exciting current projects is called Frostbite Go, a mobile division empowering EA game developers with Frostbite's proven excellent workflows and features to bring true Frostbite experiences to all major mobile platforms," said EA in a statement as quoted by Game Informer.
This begs the question-if there is such a thing as a Frostbite Go for mobile, why isn't there any efforts to include Nintendo's Wii U at all for this kind of technology?
In any case, Wii U users can still look forward to these Frostbite-empowered games in mobiles, which will hopefully arrive soon after the hype and drive of the next-gen consoles this holiday season.
ZombiU 2 sequel in development
This isn't to say that there won't be something to expect for the Wii U, as Ubisoft Montpellier is working on a prototype for a well-received game that first launched in 2012.
GameSpot reports that ZombiU's sequel is now underway, though details about the project are still murky at best.
"ZombiU was designed to be a game for core players launching with a new Nintendo console. We should have communicated this better in this respect to let people know what kind of experience to expect," said Ubisoft managing director Xavier Poix to GameSpot.
"It wasn't obvious enough that there would be a new controller and new gameplay and a new skill set to develop."
Rift becomes opens to more players with free-to-play
Starting June 12, Trion World's MMO Rift will be free-to-play, after considering all the feedback that it got from players. While there will still be a subscription service, the game won't be pay-to-win.
"After taking our time and planning a careful transition, we are very excited to bring an enhanced game experience to everyone, without barriers," said Bill Fisher, creative director of Rift to EuroGamer.
So what can you expect from this MMO? Among the features are 20-player raids, 60 levels of revamped Realm of the Fae experiences, more quests, Chronicles, zone events, and updates of class balance, and more.
