‘Genius’ App from BMW Offers a Smarter Way to Drive
BMW has taken the next step in developing user-friendly electric cars by offering drivers expert advice 24/7 on their mobile phones via ‘BMW i Genius.’ The car giant has created Apple iOS devices' Siri for its cars.
This week, the company launched the exclusive application software i Genius, which aims to answer real-time questions about BMW’s line of electric vehicles. The service functions as an electronic manual that helps drivers figure out the complex features of their car.
'BMW i Genius' eliminates the need to relay questions to your own dealer. All the information is accessed through SMS. The interface feels “just as if you were talking to an expert from the company,” says Chris Brownridge, Marketing Director of the BMW Group in the UK.
The i Genius makes use of artificial intelligence to process the users’ questions. The app generates a comprehensive response after it interprets the words and deciphers the sentiment and context behind the question.
London Brand Management created the automated system to respond to the demand for usable and accessible information. The app offers a range of information pertaining to driving and maintaining electric vehicles as well as other information specific to the BMW brand.
Dmitry Aksenov, founder of the brand management group, believes the software is “truly groundbreaking” as it establishes a “unique channel” between the carmaker and its customers. Access to the right information helps owners make “better buying decisions” and maximise the features of their i car.
Both the brand management group and the carmaker envision the i Genius as an innovative tool that supports the functions of the BMW i3 or i8.
The i Genius also aims to provide unique services, such as a smarter navigation system guided by artificial intelligence. The app is currently available in the UK as BMW gears up for the i3’s release in Europe in November.
